STUDENT TESTIMONIALS

Hear directly from current competitors and alumni about how CSUN Mock Trial helped shape their confidence, advocacy skills, friendships, and professional growth both inside and outside the courtroom.

Jeremy Juarez

JD Candidate at Georgetown University

Being a part of CSUN’s mock trial club was pivotal in my decision to pursue a career in law….being a part of the mock trial team helped me find my voice and expanded the fields I was interested in, such as litigation…. Learning how to present the facts in the light most favorable to your client, sheds light on the real role of Lawyers as an advocate and not simply a reciter of facts. After being a part of CSUN’s mock trial team, I participated in a summer internship at the Los Angeles Public Defender’s Office and now attend Georgetown University Law Center. …participating in CSUN’s mock trial program opened numerous doors for me, allowed me to expand my interests, and finally taught me valuable lessons for law school and beyond. For these reasons I highly recommend any CSUN student interested in a career in law take part in the mock trial team.

Parmida Hosseinpoli Mamaghani

My experience participating in mock trial for two years has been truly remarkable and deeply meaningful….Mock trial is an exhilarating experience that combines the thrill of competition with the joy of learning…..[l]ate-night sessions, filled with intense preparation and collaboration, became some of my most memorable experiences….
[t]his experience was invaluable in pushing my boundaries. I gained critical skills such as public speaking, persuasive argumentation, and legal analysis. These skills have not only improved my confidence in presenting cases but also enhanced my ability to think quickly and adapt to new information…. I highly recommend participating in mock trial to anyone looking for a challenging yet rewarding experience that fosters personal and professional development.

Anaida Haroutiunian

J.D. Candidate at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law

Mock trial has deepened my love for competition, the art of crafting arguments and for team collaboration. To me, there is nothing more fun and thrilling than creating exhibits and delivering the closing argument. I have learned to do so–passionately, powerfully and most importantly, creatively–with the guidance of our coaches. Serving as co-captain for two years has also shaped my leadership skills and allowed me to witness (pun intended) my team’s growth. Joining mock trial in high school and continuing at CSUN was one of the best decisions I ever made. I hope to soon continue competing in law school as well, to further explore my passion for litigation.

Maelis Hervouet

Being a part of California State University’s Mock Trial team was one of the most impactful experiences of my college journey….This experience gave me firsthand insight into the legal process and helped me develop invaluable skills—public speaking, critical thinking, legal analysis, and teamwork—that will stay with me for a lifetime….More than just a competition, Mock Trial has been a space where I grew both academically and personally, gaining confidence in my ability to advocate and present ideas persuasively….Your support doesn’t just fund travel or materials—it invests in students’ growth, leadership, and future success.
